Thank you for visiting my Instagram page on my website!
I am doing theses poured abstract paintings that I am figuring out as I go. I arrange different height supports, staple the canvas to the supports, place a drip catcher under the lowest edge to catch all of the paint that pours off and hope like hell the fluid paint goes where I think it is going to go! I make the decision about the colors but once I start pouring, I react to what is happening. Every time I want a different shape, I have to rearrange the supports, sometimes unstapling, rolling up the canvas, moving the supports and restapling. This painting is 48x46. I determine the size once I am done pouring. I staple it to the wall and figure out the crop, sometimes leaving the white around the shape, sometimes not. There is lots of set-up besides positioning the canvas. Tons of planning goes into each canvas. I really enjoy doing them along with my regular painting. I am trying to do my regular drawing and painting while these canvas dry. I don't quite have the rhythm down yet.
