Everywhere she looks, life melts into a painting, and beauty lives, becoming a new form.
Searching for all things serene, she uses her brush to capture a certain peace, giving the
viewer’s gaze a welcome place to rest. She sees the canvas, and for award-winning
Cincinnati oil painter Carol MacConnell, art evolves through years of passionate learning.
Here, the soul leaks out art.
Sparking art collectors’ interest, her work has appeared in private and corporate
collections throughout the United States and Europe, receiving numerous awards.
Known for distinctive, soothing landscapes, MacConnell’s style was later brought to life
when she began painting the human form, capturing a quiet, refined sensitivity; it draws
people in, reminding them of love lost and found, a time of innocence, and familiar places.
Her figurative work captures the sophistication and romance of a bygone era while her
diverse landscapes show a variety of vivid colors and composition.
MacConnell received a Bachelor of Fine Art from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She
has vigorously studied painting with internationally known artists such as Quang Ho,
Qiang Huang, Carolyn Anderson, Michelle Torrez, and C.W. Mundy. MacConnell greatly
admires educator, author, and painter Richard Schmid who is a technical expert on
European and American realism.
In the community, for many years, MacConnell has worked with Artists Reaching
Classrooms, an inspirational program developed by the Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati,
Ohio. Speaking to high school students, she steadily reaches out to inspire the next
generation of local artists. In addition, she has donated numerous paintings to local and
national charities.
